By The Beachside was created in 2008 by Mary and Gina Schnur. Our family has spent many summers on Nantucket Island relishing in the joy of being beachside. For us, the beach gives a feeling of peace and unbounding energy. As a family, we all have different beachside passions; walking, picnicking, reading… the list goes on. As a beach lover, I was always looking for fresh, fashionable, exclusive beach worthy totes and blankets. Each year, on Nantucket, I received compliments on my unique collection of beach bags which were not only chic but practical. I was even passionate about my beach blanket. I could not find that perfect one...so I made one myself. It was spacious, stylish and comfortable. I would constantly hear the question "where can I get one?" I wanted to create a one stop shopping experience where you can buy different, cutting edge, high quality products to enrich all the beach has to offer. My passions are shopping and beaching. So… it was inevitable that I would leave my teaching career and start this business.

By The Beachside offers a myriad of products, such as tote bags made from recycled boat sails (each bag has sailed around the world and has a history), a Saldarini 1882 beach bag imported from Italy, that stands sand free with a rubber and jute Espadrille bottom, an eco friendly picnic bag, a wine tote, a walking kit and a beach blanket.
